The challenge

Failures at water-infrastructure sites can create public-safety consequences. The district’s critical infrastructure depended on manual operation and aging controls, with little visibility into remote sites and limited automated response when conditions changed. It needed engineered, documented control.

What we did

GTech delivered the controls and automation as an engineering project, end to end:

  • PLC design and programming. Automating the site’s critical infrastructure with programmable logic controllers so the physical system responds predictably and promptly.
  • Control-system integration. Tying the controls into the site’s power, sensing, and communications so the pieces work as one system.
  • Remote monitoring and surveillance. Adding monitoring and site-security integration so operators can see a remote site’s condition and schedule service at early signs of degradation.
  • Commissioning. Documenting the control logic and testing it against acceptance criteria before handover.
